Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago recruitment agency that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, operations and supply chain recruitment and placement. We are currently recruiting for a Process Engineer with nanotechnology expertise. This person will be a technical leader in the development of nanotechnology products. Will be involved in cutting-edge new product and process development.


  • Experimental development of new nanoparticle dispersion products
  • Developing and qualifying new process’ and formulations, taking them from lab scale to small scale and make ready for high volume manufacturing.
  • Conducting individual and team research to improve current products
  • Working with a global team to fulfill customer demands
  • Conducting analysis of products and maintaining database of results
  • Coordinating external analysis through vendors
  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangibles.
  • Works on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies.

Essential requirements:

  • This position requires a high level of drive and flexibility to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver and be capable of quickly integrating R&D results into a manufacturing process.
  • B.S. or  M.S. in Chemical Engineering; with a minimum of 3 years as process engineering in a industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to perform independent research on several projects with little need for guidance.
  • Very critical thinking skills, able to construct a working hypothesis for solving a given problem and be able to confirm or refute through effective experimentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of characterization techniques including TEM, SEM, BET surface area, chemisorption, XPS, Auger, TGA, DSC is advantageous.
  • An understanding of catalytic systems (processes, chemistry, and supports) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of plasma reactors and synthetic techniques would be advantageous.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and be a “hands on” type person.
