Kappa Search is a technical recruiting firm that specializes in engineering, manufacturing and operations recruitment. We are currently recruiting for a CNC machinist to set up and operate vertical or horizontal CNC lathes and milling machine tools. Will  produce parts to specified tolerances in an above average time without assistance, applying advanced knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques. Perform set-up verification on all types of machine tool production equipment.


• Perform advanced operational function on three or more types of CNC lathe and milling machines.
• Identify and corrects major machine process problems or malfunctions with no assistance.
• Regulate and monitor factors, such as coolant flow/condition, insert wear and tool offsets.
• Start machine and monitors; speeds, feeds, work offset, active codes
• Change cutting tools and adjust tooling/offsets accordingly. Set or reset machine to required machining sequence.
• Responsible for recording all labor hours with time system accurately.
• Awareness of production schedules and shop floor controls
• Responsible for cleaning machine and area prior to leaving each day.
• Perform various other duties assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
• Set-up and run standard machine tools: CNC lathe and Mill; Fanuc & Okuma controlled with no assistance
• Capable of mounting, aligning, securing and fabricating chuck jaws, vises, fixtures and work pieces on machine.
• Capable of mounting, changing and forming selected tooling
• Capable of interpreting intermediate blueprints using conventional dimensioning and GD&T dimensioning
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, especially 5S
• Working knowledge of inspection tools and techniques used in machining and FAIs
• Able to operate an overhead crane and forklift to certification standards
• Ability to wear required PPE at all times where mandatory

• High School or GED
• Preferred 2 Years Trade school Certificate or Apprenticeship
