Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago employment agency that specializes in engineering, technical sales, technology and manufacturing recruitment and placement. One of our top clients currently seeks an energetic Sales Engineer with metal cutting, metal removal or machining experience.

The company has organized its sales effort to become a rapidly growing company. The sales organization is specialized around positions designed to accomplish specific parts of the sales strategy.

  • Inside Sales Developer – The purpose of this position is to work with outside Field Engineers to generate leads that the Field Engineer can close.  Effective lead generation makes it possible for Field Engineers to spend more time with prospective customers and be more effective. The Inside Sales Developer may close some smaller business on his / her own. Prospecting will be within targeted geographic areas and secondly in larger geographic areas within focus industries where the company feels it can best develop quality long-term customers that fit its value proposition.
  • Field Engineer – The purpose of this position is to work with the Inside Sales Developer to prospect and close new customer business in assigned geographic areas and focus industries. The position provides sales prospecting leadership and directional guidance to the Inside Sales Developer. The two positions act as a partnership, and are accountable for the same sales goals.
  • Account Manager – The purpose of the Account Manager position is to assure that assigned new and current customer business is retained and that it grows.  The company believes that current customers should be a major source of growth.  As such, the Account Manager is often part of the capture team so as to assure account management continuity and present himself / herself as the person who will be responsible for all aspects of the future relationship.  The position is expected to establish close relationships with existing customers to assure that the company participates in customer new product offerings, designs, and product line updates.  The position also develops a referral network within existing customers and focus industries, to leverage existing business contacts for new growth either within conglomerate company families or similar companies.
  • Capture team – Once a lead has been identified and initial prospecting relationships are built, the company may choose to establish a capture team to help close the sale and position the company in unique ways with the customer.  The capture team will be used extensively in situations where the goal is to use forging to replace alternative manufacturing methods with a stronger and lower cost replacement solution, and where the forging is an important and integral component in the final product.  Various sales positions may participate in the capture process, along with members of the management team.
  • Team cooperation – The processes of lead generation, lead turnover, customer-capture, and customer turnover require extensive cooperation among positions.  Accordingly, a team bonus will be paid on total company growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required. Engineering or other technical degree preferred. BSME, BSIE, BSEE etc.
  • Several years experience with technical sales
  • Metal cutting or metal removal industry expereience is desired.
