Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago employment agency that specializes in the recruitment and placement of engineering, manufacturing, sales and supply chain professionals. We are currently recruiting for manufacturing professionals with injection molded plastics expertise. 

Primary Functions:

  • Injection molding operations leader and project manager of multiple projects on cross-functional teams that include engineering, R&D, quality, manufacturing, and distribution.
  • Early design involvement with focus on achieving cost targets and optimization of design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and material processing challenges.
  • Strategic leadership and management of molding department in use of capital equipment material and human resources to achieve the highest quality, at the lowest cost.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to direct reports to achieve business, operational and quality objectives, plans, and performance goals.
  • Build strong infrastructure within department by communicating processes, integrated timelines, goals and expectations.
  • Drive technology development, departmental strategy, and planning for injection molding operations. Ensure molding department’s business, operational and quality objectives and plans are aligned with manufacturing strategies and plans.
  • Development and integration of automation technologies; in conjunction with implementing lean manufacturing principles and processes.
  • Project leadership and management of activities for injection molding tooling required to support new product: planning, organizing, and execution of major projects to successful completion with emphasis on timing, budget, and business performance. Interface with R&D, Marketing, Design, and Manufacturing.
  • Manage the product lifecycle including selection, technology transfer, manufacturing, and decommissioning.
  • Direct the mold tool development from the prototype stage to full commercial scale tooling and process development required to support commercialization.
  • Identify, escalate, and facilitate resolution of manufacturing, supply chain, or quality issues that may adversely affect performance goals. Investigate, analyze, report, and track company and industry trends and apply lessons to molding strategy and tactics.
  • Support the development of partnerships with North America, Asia, and European business partners to successfully introduce new product design.

Requirements:

  • B.S. /B.A. Engineering/Technical discipline preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education

  • 5 + years management experience. 8+ years experience in injection molding tool technology.
