Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area recruiting agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of manufacturing, sales, engineering and technical professionals in a variety of fields. Currently we are seeking a 2nd shift Tool and Die Maker for our client in NW Indiana.

: Tool and Die Maker


Job Summary:
 
Responsible for manufacturing, rework and repair of tooling and machine parts.  Take raw stock material and manufacture complex tools and/or dies per blueprints.  Produce fixtures and machine parts for equipment used in the manufacturing of fasteners.


Responsibilities
– Create, rework and repair various machine tooling within drawing and specification requirements
— Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established company and government environmental health and safety guidelines
— Ensure compliance with company quality systems, TS-16949 and ISO 14001 procedures that are applicable to this position
— Perform all tasks associated with the manufacturing of taptite and round screw tooling (form wheels, taptite feed rollers, etc)
— Rework existing tooling to accommodate production requirements
— Troubleshoot tooling that does not meet machine specifications or operational capabilities
— Process rework orders and perform tool inspection and other necessary machine work to support factory operations
— Set up and operate EDM Machines
— Maintain inventory levels of required tooling, gages and supplies
— Assist in tracking tooling inventory and maintaining min/max system
— Assist in assembling and maintaining set-up tool kits
— Perform tool making machine inspections including daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance tasks
— Service Tool Crib window, maintaining tool control (usage) charts
— Ensure continual improvement in all areas of operation
— Train other toolmakers as required

Requirements:

— High school diploma or GED with trade school or apprenticeship training
— Certification in machining, engineering, or manufacturing technology preferred
— 5 years of experience machining precision metal components
— Knowledge of progressive multi-station and/or cold forming dies assembly and rework
— EDM experience preferred
— Strong problem solving, decision making, and team building skills
— Solid verbal and written communication skills
— Ability to read and interpret blueprints 
— Ability to lift 35 lbs and stand for 10 hour work shifts
— PC literate
— Experience with an ERP system preferred
