Kappa Search Inc. (KSI) is a Chicago area employment agency specializing in the recruitment and placement of engineering, technology, manufacturing, supply chain and technical professionals in a variety of fields. Currently, we are searching for Software Engineers for growth positions in Michigan.

This position is responsible for the implementation of software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products according to defined specifications and existing processes in a team environment to meet/exceed business and quality objectives.

1. Maintain and follow proper compliance and quality systems requirements.

2. Establishes standards for all aspects of software development, including specification, design, and implementation of software

Assist in effective project scheduling.

3. Establishes quantitative measurements and techniques for measuring software quality.

4. Provide technical leadership on software development tasks.

5. Reviews and evaluates software documents and code and provide feedback.

6. Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes.

7. Prototype software for demonstration/feasibility purpose.

8. Hardware/software integration. Contribute to the planning, implementation and completion of projects to develop, install, and qualify new processes for manufacturing new products or improving existing products / processes.

9. Recommend through research cost reduction projects and opportunities for productivity and quality improvements.

10. Provide support for testing software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products

11. Define software and verification requirements according to higher level specifications.

12. Gathering, tracking, and analyzing production data for meetings, business plan, etc. (yields/output/efficiencies).

13. Plan work schedules, expenditures, attend meetings, and prepare monthly reports as required.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in an applicable engineering discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science or biomedical engineering
  • Several years experience in embedded software design and implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years experience with C++ using Windows Visual Studio 2008 as well as prior experience with IEC 62304 medical device software lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Human model interfaces, UML as it relates to software design documentation and Windows XP Embedded a plus.
  • Ability to create and work from engineering drawings and/or specs of particular engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in XML, configuration management systems, C++ and object oriented design gained through academic course work or on the job experience.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical techniques/methods.
  • Ability to use personal computer and Windows-based software (Outlook, Word and Excel preferred).
