Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago employment agency that specializes in engineering, manufacturing and procurement recruitment and placement. One of our clients is currently recruiting for a manufacturing planner as follows:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinate smooth functions of and interfaces on a daily basis with sales, customer service, buyers and manufacturing to insure all customer needs are addressed and customer ship dates are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide production scheduling from sub-assembly cells to the final assembly cell in order to support customer request date in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate smooth functions of and interfaces on a daily basis with sales, customer service, buyers and manufacturing to insure all customer needs are addressed and customer ship dates are met.
  • Communicate regularly with shipping department and prepare product for shipment.
  • Create and improve production planning tools that allow Planner to execute product build plan for subassembly parts with appropriate lead time to meet customer request date.
  • Plan materials to support daily linear build as per revenue plan for the month to deliver product on time as per customer demand.
  • Monitor inventory levels to drive quick turn improvements while
  • Maintain and audit point of use inventory to eliminate stock outs.
  • Maintain the visual order replenishment system (kanban) for manufactured and purchased parts
  • Support DBS system by participating in Kaizens, problem solving and standard work. This process will involve the buyer/planner’s support by coming up with new ideas to stock material on the line to support one-piece flow
  • Communicate effectively with all departments and levels of management
  • Participate in daily and weekly production review meetings.
  • Participate in daily factory meeting.
  • Perform cycle counting as required and participate in physical inventories as required.
  • Responsible for following safety and quality system procedures as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Kanban and lean manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Strong computer skills are required
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, as well as lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, stair climbing, and standing
  • Must be able to work extended hours and have a flexible schedule
  • 5 years of experience in master scheduling and/or production planning preferred
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of materials planning and purchasing

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

B.S./B.A. Business Administration, Business Management/Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience is required
