Description

This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing manufacturing operations of the plant including production, quality, maintenance and other production related duties while establishing efficient, effective, and profitable methods aligned with Company’s standard policies, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

○ Coordinates and collaborates with other departments to establish and carry out responsibilities related to manufacturing operations including production and inventory control to achieve and maintain cost effective results.

○ Reviews and utilizes reports, consults with other managers, and organizes resources that will facilitate

effective planning and monitoring of production processes, incoming material, inventory control, backorders, and on time deliveries to meet customer needs and establish quality specifications.

○ Achieves peak production efficiency by monitoring overall plant performance and quality standards by identifying and implementing cost effective strategies, organizing workflow, strictly controlling waste by monitoring scrap control, and executing practices to reduce labor costs while maintaining optimal staffing levels.

○ Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in all phases of plant operations including production, distribution and warehousing in accordance with established policies and procedures.

○ Works closely with other managers and outside sales representatives to address and satisfy customer needs and concerns timely and effectively.

○ Provides leadership to direct reports in the plant, foster positive employee relations, prepare, schedule and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work and when necessary, work with the union steward and human resources to resolve grievances.

○ Recommends opportunities for training and cross training to enhance plant efficiency.

○ Assures compliance with all safety, health and environmental requirements.

○ Oversees proper maintenance of all equipment and systems including building facilities.

 Skills○ Excellent, high level analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

○ Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes including experience with punch presses, brake presses, turret presses, metal forming, and an understanding of processes related to Injection molding – resistance, MIG and TIG welding including aluminum and plastic extrusions

○ Strong, well developed interpersonal communication skills adept at motivating employees, addressing and resolving complaints, conflicts, and grievances.

○ Attention to detail – Approaches work in a meticulous, thorough, and detailed manner.

○ Able to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality to keep sensitive information secure.

○ Able to successfully and tactfully work with a diverse group of individuals

Education and Experience

Ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years of manufacturing and supervisory experience in a union environment and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and negotiations.
