Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago recruitment agency that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and operations recruitment and placement. We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Engineer with electronic products expertise.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will support new product introduction, serve as a client interface for quality assurance concerns, and implement continuous process improvement in manufacturing. This position supports the medical, telecom and consumer electronics industry. The incumbent will perform activities related to the development, assemby, and reliability of high performance electronic products. The Quality Assurance Engineer role is responsible as the key liason between manufacturing and the customer, ensuring that overall customer quality and regulatory requirements and expectations are met and product meets all specifications. Quality engineering work assignments are varied and require a results-driven approach. Incumbent must be comfortable analyzing complex situations and then presenting results concisely, to all levels and manner of audiences. A strong engineering background is critical, electrical or mechanical engineering desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact to customers for support in new products, change management and problem prevention/resolution.
  • Facilitate CAPA process with design teams.
  • Schedule and organize qualification testing for new products and changes to existing products. Assure that all customer requirements are incorporated into the qualification process.
  • Assist in development and execution of ongoing reliability testing for current production.
  • Recommend and drive improvements to products & processes in manufacturing.
  • Preparation of technical reports for internal and external customers.
  • Propagate the use of statistical techniques in design and manufacturing.
  • Take initiative developing and forming teams to address critical product issues – with regards to both existing products and new product development.
  • Drive continuous improvement and internal corrective action activities to improve the cost, delivery, and quality of products and services offered.
  • Assist with “change implementation” and the objective to transition the organization from a reactive to a proactive culture, to better meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports relating to product changes and/or improvements, and drive resolution of issues related to these.
  • Interact with functional groups at all levels (manufacturing, sales, marketing, etc.), to address and resolve critical product and customer issues.
  • Actively seek out and utilize technical expertise from within the company and from outside sources to assist in problem solving.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Successful candidate will possess Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 plus years experience in Quality/Reliability Engineering with strong emphasis on new product introduction.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills (oral and written) are required to effectively interact with customers and peers.
  • Knowledge of Electronics and Electrical Components, CAPA, Design of Experiments(DOE), SPC and basic ISO9000 framework
  • Knowledge of blueprints and engineering drawings is essential.
  • Must be experienced in the use of Excel and Minitab (or equiv); Oracle and Access experience a plus.
  • Must possess excellent technical writing and project management skills with the ability to provide reports for direct customer consumption.
