Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago recruiting firm that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, operations and technical sales recruitment and placement. One of our clients in the automotive components industry seeks a Quality Assurance Manager with injection molded plastics expertise.

Primary Job Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Maintain supervision of all Quality Department functions
  • Initiate, coordinate and implement Quality policies and procedures to assure defect-free product which conforms to customer requirements and ISO/TS 16949 standards.
  • Manage customer relationships, including quality concern response, problem resolution development, and customer scorecard (satisfaction) review.
  • Maintain all ISO/TS 16949 documentation relating to the Quality Department
  • Manage the implementation of all new Quality System standards, including ISO/TS 16949
  • Manage Quality Department personnel, including scheduling and annual reviews.
  • Ensure all Quality Department personnel have been sufficiently trained.
  • Oversee the requirements of Quality-related equipment needed to conform to customer and ISO/TS requirements (e.g. gage calibration).
  • Manage and participate in the overall APQP Process.
  • Manage and participate in the overall Problem Solving Process.
  • Manage and participate in the overall PPAP Process.
  • Manage and participate in the overall Supplier Quality Program Process.  Create objectives and measurables.
  • Track and monitor trends in both internal and external non-conformances.
  • Initiate, track and trend other Quality-related measurables (e.g. Roadmaps, cost of quality, etc).
  • Serve as an Internal Auditor.
  • Create and maintain a clean working environment that is productive, positive and professional in nature.
  • Other duties as required.

Primary Objectives:

  • External PPM of 0, Internal scrap percentage under 1.25%.
  • Have all Quality personnel trained in the Department-required criteria.
  • 100% on-time response to customer concerns.
  • Improve vendor delivery performance through a documented Supplier Quality System.
  • Implement process controls when required; Reduce product measurement when possible.
  • Ensure all active jobs contain updated Inspection Instructions, Control Plans, FMEAs, Prints, and other related documentation.
  • Create and follow a prioritized Continuous Improvement schedule.
