Kappa Search Inc. is a Chicago recruiting agency that specializes in engineering, operations and technical sales recruitment and placement. One of our clients in the steel industry refractory business is recruiting for a Sales Representative with steel industry experience.


  • Will utilize product technical knowledge to help customers choose the right product for their applications.
  • Will focus on sales of monolithics, ceramic fiber and castables
  • Respond to customers phone and internet questions.
  • Increase knowledge of the markets that our customers serve and assist in developing marketing plans to take advantage of our unique products.
  • Job will be primarily territory sales, will involve travel to customers.
  • Interact with the manufacturing facility, which will give the candidate extensive knowledge of the products and the production process and capability.

General duties:

  • Increase Sales Revenue by obtaining orders from new and existing customers.
  • Answer technical questions from customers and potential customers via phone, fax and e-mail.
  • Prepare quotations for customers and potential customers, and provide follow-up.
  • Analyze sales trends by customers, learn customers markets and suggest new and/or improved products.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, identify new sales opportunities.
  • Assist in updating marketing and technical product documents.
  • Bachelors of Science in Business or equivalent
  • Technical Sales experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Desire to be a strong customer advocate
