Ruiz Foods has acquired a new manufacturing facility in Florence, South Carolina, according to CSP Daily News. The food processing plant originally belonged to Heinz and was built in 2008. The company is investing $55 million into acquiring and renovating the building, Area Development reported. It will begin construction immediately to enable the building to produce El Monterey and Tornados brand products by 2015.
Because of the high demand for its products and significant growth of the company, Ruiz Foods needed to establish a facility on the East Coast, according to CEO Rachel P. Cullen.
Once the company ramps up to full production at the facility, they will employ more than 500 workers, according to CSP Daily News.
Ruiz Foods is also expanding its corporate headquarters in Dinuba, California, and manufacturing facility in Denison, Texas, where the company employs approximately 2,400 workers, Area Development reported.
"Ruiz Foods choosing Florence County for their first facility on the East Coast is a big deal for this local community and for the state as a whole. We share their commitment to quality and customer service, and celebrate their decision to invest $55 million and create more than 500 new jobs," South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said.
Companies expanding their U.S. operations like Ruiz Foods should work with manufacturing recruiters to find the most qualified workers for their open positions.
