Aerospace parts manufacturer opening facility in Charleston County, South Carolina

Senior Aerospace AMT is taking advantage of South Carolina's strong workforce and opening a satellite manufacturing facility in Charleston County, according to a statement from South Carolina's Department of Commerce.

Senior Aerospace AMT is owned by the global engineering company Senior plc, and manufactures structural parts for original equipment manufacturers in the commercial jet industry. To meet the growing demand for its products, Senior Aerospace AMT needs to increase its production space and streamline its operations.

The company will assemble existing parts for Boeing SC at the new facility. It will transfer the tools and inventory necessary to begin production by the end of 2014.

The satellite facility will create 60 new jobs in Charleston County, and the Coordinating council for Economic Development has approved job development tax credits for the company.

"The City of North Charleston proudly welcomes Senior to the rapidly expanding aerospace sector of our economy, and we embrace the additional jobs and sizeable capital investment that will benefit our region," North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said.

Businesses expanding their operations should work with manufacturing recruiters to find the most qualified workers for their open positions.
