Automotive and medical device manufacturer Autocam Corporation has increased its production capabilities in Marshall, Michigan, by opening a new manufacturing facility, Autocam Marshall #2. Autocam has been established in the city for more than 16 years, and the company invested $10 million into the new 50,000-square-foot plant.
The plant is a result of a connection formed between Autocam and DENSO Manufacturing Athens Tennessee. The partnership will use the new facility to create gas direct injection fuel systems, which DENSO will sell to its original equipment manufacturer customers in North America. The collaboration has lead to 50 advance manufacturing jobs for Autocam and more than $20 million in new revenue.
The new facility is at 45 percent capacity with the advanced manufacturing jobs and will be fully utilized by 2018. The plant is capable of turning over more than $55 million in machined components each year.
Autocam will be adding 85 new positions at the facility, and the plant will need 170 workers at full capacity.
Businesses expanding their operations should work with manufacturing recruiters to find the most qualified candidates for their open positions.
