ConAgra Foods expands operations in Oregon and Indiana

ConAgra Foods Inc. announced it will expand its Lamb Weston frozen potato plant in Boardman, Oregon, according to an official company statement. 

The company has been investing $200 million in the plant since in 2012. The newest improvement is adding a new processing line to the plant, which will increase the capacity for making french fries and other frozen potato protects.

With the additional line, the Lamb Weston plant will have five lines and the capacity to produce 300 million pounds of potatoes annually, according to the company's statement.

ConAgra Foods is one of the largest employers in the region. It operates seven facilities in the area and two in Boardman, Oregon, specifically. The new line will increase the number of employees in Boardman from 750 to at least 850 workers.

The food manufacturer also recently announced its intention to expand its Rensslelar, Indiana, facility and build a new distribution center in Frankfort, Indiana, according to Area Development. ConAgra is investing $8.9 million to revamp its current 122,000-square-foot facility in Rensslelar. The new Indiana expansions are expected to create up to a 160 new positions.
