W. W. Grainger Inc. plans to build a 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center on its newly acquired 96 acres of land in Bordentown Township, New Jersey, according to Area Development.
Grainer has been doing business in New Jersey since 1933 and currently has 11 locations in the state. The new distribution center will allow Grainger to deliver its products to customers more quickly in the Northeast. The facility will need 400 workers to operate.
"The company has a reputation as a strong employer and good neighbor, and their presence will surely be a boost to our economic development plans," Bordentown Township Mayor Stephen Benowitz said. "We will continue to work with Grainger as they build and open their facility, and look forward to a long, mutually-beneficial partnership.
Grainger also began expanding its Chicago office at the end of 2013, Chicago Business Journal reported. The company is adding approximately 300 new jobs in the city over the next few years in order to increase its technological capabilities and online sales.
Global businesses like Grainger should work with technology and operations recruiters to help find the most qualified candidates for their new positions.
