Hatch Stamping Company is opening a plant in Portland, Tennessee

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam announced manufacturing company Hatch Stamping Company is establishing a new facility in Portland, Tennessee, according to a statement from the governor's office.

The Michigan-based company is looking to expand its operations in the Southeast and is investing $17 million into the project. Hatch Stamping has five other facilities located in Michigan and Mexico.

Construction on the facility should begin soon, and Hatch Stamping hopes to have the plant fully operational by January 2015. The facility will be a 106,000-square-foot plant able to engineer metal stampings and assemblies. The company will use the facility to produce parts for the southeastern U.S. and global automotive markets.

Hatch Stamping anticipates the new facility will create 101 new jobs.

"Hatch Stamping's decision to locate a new manufacturing facility in Portland is another example of the business-friendly climate our state offers to companies around the world, and it reinforces our goal to make Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs," Haslam said.

Businesses establishing new plants should work with manufacturing recruiters to be connected with the most qualified candidates for their open positions.
