Lineage Logistics has begun construction on a new state-of-the-art facility in Charleston County, South Carolina, according to a company statement. The new cold storage facility will be 340,000 square feet.
The company chose Charleston but it's a logistically important port on the East Coast. The warehouse will not only have access to the Port of Charleston but also rail access to the Norfolk Southern switches.
The facility will have the latest high capacity blast freezing technology and new transportation methods to provide customers with fast and efficient solutions for their exports to foreign markets and imported products, the company stated.
The project is financially backed by Bay Grove, an investment firm, which has built Lineage Logistics through acquisitions and investments in the warehousing and logistics industry, according to Area Development.
"Distribution and logistics companies represent one of the fastest-growing industries in our state today," South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said. "This will be a great addition to the state's logistics sector, and we are pleased that Lineage is bringing this project to fruition."
The expansion is expected to create 80 new positions.
Companies in the logistics industry should work with operations recruiters to find the most qualified candidates for their open positions.
