Michelin to open new facility in Wilmington, Illinois

Michelin has entered into a lease for a 1.7 million-square-foot space in Wilmington, Illinois, to open a new distribution center, Area Development reported. The space is located in the RidgePort Logistics Center and renovations will begin soon and be finished by the middle of 2015.

The RidgePort Logistics Center is strategically located new Interstate 55, the BNSF Logistics Park in Elwood, Illinois, and the Union Pacific-Joliet Intermodal Terminal in Joliet, Illinois, according to Area Development. The area is becoming an important logistics center in the Midwest because of its many transportation options, President of the Will County Center for Economic Development John Grueling stated.

Michelin's space at RidgePort will be one of the largest U.S. distribution complexes, according to Ridge Development President Jim Martell. Having Michelin as one of the many businesses in the logistics center will boost RidgePort's recognition in the U.S.

"The project is already benefiting the city, bringing with it both temporary construction and permanent jobs, a high standard of employee safety and exceptional community relations," Tony Graff, Wilmington City administrator, said.

Businesses expanding in Illinois should work with Chicago recruiters to find the most skilled candidates for their new positions.
