Illinois-based Pregis Protective Packaging Solutions announced in June it plans to expand its Marshall County, Indiana, operations, according to a statement from the city of Plymouth, Indiana. Pregis is an international manufacturer of polyethylene products that has been doing businesses since 1986.
The company currently has a 360,000-square-foot building in Plymouth, Indiana, and is investing $2.3 million to lease a 62,000-square-foot facility near its current location. The new building will be home to part of the company's operations as well as new manufacturing equipment used to make low-density polyethylene hybrid cushioning film. The film is used in the company's AirSpeed Versa protective packaging products.
The Plymouth Common Council approved a seven-year tax abatement for Pregis' expansion – the longest abatement approved in more than six years, according to the South Bend Tribune.
"Pregis has operations throughout the country," Marshall County Economic Development Executive Director Jerry Chavez said. "The company's decision to invest here speaks well of the opportunities for business expansion and retention in Plymouth and Marshall County."
The new space will double Pregis' production capacity and will create 10 new jobs.
Businesses expanding their operations and creating new jobs should work with manufacturing recruiters to find the most qualified candidates for their open positions.
