Tech job growth is positive in Chicago

Chicago has witnessed impressive numbers in the tech job industry as of late. In the last two years, Chicago ranks in the top six out of the 20 markets for tech job growth, joining other famed locations such as Silicon Valley, Austin, San Francisco and New York, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Chicago witnessed 19.3 percent growth in the tech job industry between 2011 and 2013, according to the source. The number of jobs this percentage translated to was 12,000. The rapid growth in the tech industry has had positive repercussions in Chicago. Real estate is now benefiting from the tech industry. According to the source, tech companies were responsible for 17 percent of leases in downtown Chicago in 2013.

"You'll continue to see Chicago tech firms grow, and you'll see big-name East Coast and West Coast firms move to Chicago and establish a presence," said Brad Serot, a senior vice president at Los Angeles-based CBRE, according to Crain's.

The city has also attracted companies such as Yelp, which has been impressed by the city's commitment to tech industry and small business, according to NBC Chicago affiliate WMAQ.

Chicago recruiters will gain many excellent workers in the tech industry.
