Steel pipe manufacturer TMK IPSCO Coating Corp. is building a new facility in northern Kentucky, according to Cincinnati.com. The American division of Russia-based TMK is investing $19.8 million to construct the new plant, which will be the company's first steel coating facility.
TMK IPSCO currently has a plant in Wilder, Kentucky, where it employs approximately 379 workers. The Wilder plant produces steel pipes used for oil and gas transmission, according to Cincinnati.com. The company operates 12 facilities in North America and considered expanding near their plant locations in Iowa and Texas. The newest facility will need up to 40 workers.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved a tax incentive for the company worth $650,000 over the next 10 years. To receive the incentive, TMK IPSCO is required to maintain 95 percent of its current workforce at its Wilder, Kentucky, facility.
