Wahl Clipper Corporation, a personal care products manufacturer, is building a new corporate headquarters in Sterling, Ill., according to CBS affiliate WIFR.
The announcement comes after the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity approved a tax credit to enable to company to build the facility, WIFR reported. The tax credit reduces the company's Illinois income tax liability if it expands operations within the state. This incentive is worth about $1.6 million over the next 10 years.
Wahl intends to invest $8.5 million to construct a 40,000-square-foot building, according to WIFR. All of the current headquarters staff will be retained, and the company hopes to create additional positions.
"This new facility provides us with a number of great advantages," CEO Greg Wahl stated. "First, it frees up a great deal of space in our current facilities to allow us to continue to grow and prosper. It will also provide a state of the art corporate facility as a showplace to our worldwide customer base."
In the past year, Wahl expanded its Sterling campus with a new 124,000-square-foot facility. The company now employees more than 800 workers in Sterling.
