Indiana's Economic Development Corporation announced auto parts manufacturer Warner Electric LLC will consolidate multiple locations into one plant in Columbia City, Indiana. Warner Electric is investing $2 million to move its operations in South Beloit, Illinois, and three locations in Whitley County, Indiana, to Columbia City, Indiana.
The company plans to lease a 96,000-square-foot facility on a 12.9-acre campus, the Economic Development Corporation's statement said. The existing facility will be modified by Warner Electric prior to it moving in and gives the company space to take on more production in the future.
Warner Electric weighed the options for expanding at it's various Midwest locations but determined consolidating in Indiana was the best choice because it kept the company close to its customers in the Midwest and Southeast, according to the statement.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered Warner Electric up to $50,000 in tax credits and up to $75,000 in grants for job training. The financial incentives will be based in economic performance and job creation. Whitley County, Indiana, also approved the companies tax abatement request.
The consolidation is expected to create 20 new jobs by 2018.
Companies expanding their operations should work with manufacturing recruiters to find the most skilled candidates for their open positions.
